Epic.U — Brand & UI Design
The Brief
While working as Design Manager at UNext, I led the brand and UX design for Epic.U — a social learning platform built to bring the energy of campus life into online education. The platform was designed to help students connect, find their community, attend events, and collaborate — bridging the gap between digital accessibility and the human experience of being a student.
The Approach
The core tension in this brief was between two things that don't always coexist easily: community and convenience. Epic.U needed to feel warm, social, and human — not like another productivity tool — while also being fast, intuitive, and accessible on the go. I developed a custom logotype and a minimalist typographic system that communicates the platform's "easy access, anytime" promise without sacrificing personality. The visual identity needed to feel distinct from the broader UNext brand while remaining coherent within it — a sub-brand with its own character.
The UI design was built around real student behaviour: quick interactions, social discovery, seamless transitions between learning and community features. Wireframes were tested and iterated into high-fidelity screens and a working prototype, with the goal of making every interaction feel natural and low-friction.
